The Colonial Virginia Council 

The Colonial Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America can be traced back to 1921, and serves the cities of Emporia, Franklin, Hampton, Newport News, Poquson, Suffolk and Williamsburg, The council also serves the town of Smithfield as well as the counties of Brunswick, Gloucester, Greensville, Isle of Wight, James City, Mathews, Surry, Southampton and York.

The Colonial Virginia Council employs thirteen professionals, as well as countless volunteers, to help provide scouting and other services for over 5,900 youths and their families in the council.

Mission Statement and Aims of Scouting

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law

The aims of scouting are character development, mental & physical fitness, and citizenship training.

Our office is located at 11721 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, Virginia 23606. Our phone number is 757-595-3356

Our council office service center is open from 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday.

Scout Shop Hours are currently:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Tuesday & Thursday 9:00am-7:30pm
Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm

To reach our office, take Interstate 64 to exit 258-A in Newport News. Travel 1.5 miles on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. Turn right onto Jefferson Avenue. Go one half mile and turn left at Pilot House Road. The Council office is on the right side of the driveway.
